Artist statement

I create paintings as spaces of remembrance rather than images to be observed from a distance. Through figurative painting and sculptural relief, I create works that invite viewers into closeness, to encounter rather than interpret, and to reconnect with what already lives within them.

My earlier paintings explored emotional relationships through carefully composed imagery, bringing human figures, animals, and natural environments into quiet connection. These works formed a bridge between my background in design and my artistic practice: aesthetically considered, emotionally resonant, and open to personal interpretation.

My current practice explores how representational painting can gradually extend beyond the picture plane into sculptural and physical space. These sculptural elements are notseparate additions, but extensions of the painted image itself. Rather than leaving painting behind, I use sculptural surfaces, tactile elements, and object-like forms to allow the work to enter the viewer’s physical space while remaining grounded in the painted figure.

I am interested in creating work that is not meant to be solved, but experienced. Through tactile surfaces, sculptural forms, and contemplative visual worlds, my paintings invite a slower form of seeing: one that makes room for wonder, empathy, imagination, and the quiet remembrance of something deeply familiar.
